When dining out, we always look for details of good service and it is such a pleasure when a restaurant makes a point of seeking customers’ opinions (other than the dreadful, mechanical oft-repeated question: “Everything all right, then?”)
Dining at the China Spice chain’s new place on Archbishop Makarios avenue in Limassol, “Rice”, the other night (see review), I happened to order a wine my wife didn’t like very much. Also, we were replete after starters and main course and declined the offer of a (complimentary) dessert and coffee. At the end of the meal, when we paid the bill a concerned waiter, noting the half empty bottle and non-order of dessert, asked in a very pleasant manner if we were not satisfied with the meal. We explained that the mis-ordering of wine was my fault and that we were quite full. He then told us of the management’s desire to ensure the satisfaction of every customer and their wish to have feedback. So we then made a few comments that the flavours in some of the cooking were too minimal. He took careful notes, advising us what to order on another visit and suggesting that if we wanted more flavour in matters such as ginger, garlic and chilli to make the point when ordering.
We left with a good feeling about “Rice”.
