Cyprus motor regs dive again in March

Registrations of motor vehicles dropped sharply for a third month in a row in March, falling by 21.6% over the year earlier to 4,522.
For the whole of the first quarter, total registrations of motor vehicles tumbled by 23.0% to 13,108, from 17,024 vehicles in the same period of 2008.
In 2008 registrations had risen by 5.2%.
Registrations of private saloon cars decreased in the first quarter by 21% to 9,979, from 12,625 in January-March 2008.
Of the total private saloon cars registered, 4,408 vehicles or 44.2% were new and 5,571 vehicles or 55.8% were used cars.
Registrations of goods conveyance vehicles decreased by 9.3% to 1,775 in 2009, compared with 1,957 in 2008.
Light goods vehicles decreased by 6.8% to 1,381, from 1,481 in 2008.
Heavy goods vehicles decreased by 17.2% to 394 in January-March 2009, from 476 in 2008.
Mechanised cycles decreased by 12.5% to 864 in 2009, compared with 987 in January-March 2008.
