After 12 months of careful evaluation, this week we announce the first Cyprus Gourmet Awards. Full information will be in the next Cyprus Gourmet Magazine which will be available at the end of this week .
There are four categories of Awards, which are listed below. Restaurant Awards are not made on an annual basis – so new awards will be made regularly. In this way, Cyprus Gourmet Awards are not competitive with and are complementary to the well-established and renowned awards made annually for the best restaurants, tavernas, cafés, etc., by “Time Out” magazine. As such, our objective is to focus attention year-round on good food and wine and to do our best to assist in the setting and maintaining of standards in catering throughout Cyprus.
In addition to the wine awards given below, awards will be made in the coming months for individual wines.

1. “APPROVED”

Hotels, restaurant, tavernas, catering establishments, retail shops (delicatessens etc), wine producers, and related service providers which have attained standards of quality/service approved by Cyprus Gourmet Magazine. Visits or samplings will have taken place at least once each year by a CGM reviewer, contributor or reader and reported upon. All “Approved” establishments and products are included in the “Listings” section of Cyprus Gourmet Magazine.

2. “RECOMMENDED”

Designated by ONE Chef (food related awards) or ONE Wine Glass (wine related awards)
Establishments, foods, wines or services rated as “very good” by reviewers, staff or contributors and visited or tasted, at lease three times in a calendar year.

3. “EXCELLENCE”

Designated by TWO Chefs (food related awards) or TWO Wine Glasses (wine related awards)
Establishments, foods, wines or services rated as having very high standards in all aspects of their products and/or services by reviewers, staff or contributors and visited or tasted, at lease three times in a calendar year.

4. “GOLD”

Designated by THREE Chefs (food related awards) or THREE Wine Glasses (wine related awards). The highest award of Cyprus Gourmet.
Establishments, foods, wines or services rated as having virtually 100% standards in all aspects of their products and services by reviewers, staff or contributors and visited or tasted, at lease three times in a calendar year.

All awards are permanent, or until there are changes of ownership, management or personnel, or the required standards are not met, when they may be withdrawn.

Nicosia Wine Merchant of the Year…Inon Pnevmata
Limasol Wine Merchant of the Year… La Maison du Vin
Paphos Wine Merchant of the Year…. Cava Remuage
