Acting President of the Republic of Cyprus and President of the House of Representatives Marios Garoyian has held a meeting with members of the Nicosia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (EVEL) with whom he exchanged views on issues concerning the economy.

In statements after the meeting, Garoyian said he expressed his views on the current economic situation in Cyprus and listened to the positions of the Nicosia businesspeople on the matter.

“We also shared some views and initiatives which should be undertaken for speeding up major infrastructure projects and taking common action so that the impact of the world economic crisis on Cyprus is as minor as possible”, he noted.

Apart from the economy, they also exchanged views on the Cyprus problem.

“I informed them about the latest developments of the Cyprus problem, I expressed my views and listened to their suggestions, which I found logical, correct and justified”, he said.

In his statements, EVEL chairman Christodoulos Angastiniotis said they discussed issues concerning the economy and the promotion of major development projects.

He added that EVEL submitted a series of suggestions regarding the decrease of the cost of money and the speeding up of major development projects.
