Cyprus trade deficit rises to EUR 5.3 bln in Jan-Oct

The trade deficit widened to EUR 5,260.2 mln in January-October 2008 compared with EUR 4,329.3 mln in January-October 2007, as growth in imports outstripped growth in exports.
In January-October, total imports/arrivals rose to EUR 6,222.2 mln compared with EUR 5,246.5 mln in January-October 2007.
Total exports/dispatches (covering total exports to third countries and dispatches to other EU member states) in January-October 2008 were recorded at EUR 962.0 mln compared with EUR 917.2 mln in January-October 2007.

During October 2008 total imports/arrivals (covering total imports from third countries and arrivals from other Member States) were valued at EUR 620.7 mln.
Total exports/dispatches (covering total exports to third countries and dispatches to other member states), including stores and provisions, in October 2008 amounted to EUR 87.9 mln.
Εxports/dispatches of domestically produced goods, including stores and provisions, reached EUR 39.2 mln, while exports/dispatches of foreign goods, including stores and provisions, were recorded at EUR 48.7 mln.

According to preliminary data for November, the trade balance reached EUR 502.2 mln in November, with total imports of EUR 609.1 mln and total exports of EUR 106.9 mln.
Arrivals from other EU member states amounted to EUR 446.5 mln, while dispatches to other member states reached EUR 56.2 mln.
