Cyprus tourist arrivals record a 0.6% decrease

Tourist arrivals in Cyprus recorded a decrease of 0.6% in the period January – October 2008 compared with the corresponding period of 2007.

According to the latest data published here today by the Statistical Service of Cyprus, for the period January – October 2008, arrivals of tourists reached 2.233.721 compared to 2.247.596 in the same period of 2007.

For October, arrivals of tourists reached 267.866 in October 2008 compared to 275.103 in October 2007, recording a decrease of 2.6%.

A decrease of 4.9% was recorded in tourist arrivals from the United Kingdom (142.868 in October 2008 compared to 150.301 in October 2007) 5.7% decrease from Germany (16.498 compared to 17.490) and 20.2% decrease from Sweden (14.795 compared to 18.541 last year).

On the other hand, an increase of 46,2% was recorded in tourist arrivals from Russia ( from 13.731 in October 2007 to 20.076 in October 2008) and 8,3% increase from Greece (from 9.789 to 10.598 this year).
