Jos Lelieveld, a professor at the Cyprus Institutes Research Center in Energy, Environment and Water (EEWRC), has won a research grant from the European Research Council (ERC).
The advanced grant of 2.2 mln euros is for the project ‘Consistent Computation of the Chemistry-Cloud Continuum and Climate Change in Cyprus,’ an investigation into the relationship between air quality and climate change in the Mediterranean. The project will better equip Cyprus to predict and respond to climate change.
In 2000, Prof. Lelieveld became the Director of the Atmospheric Chemistry Division at the Max Planck Institute for Chemistry, Germany. Since January 2008 he is a Professor at the Cyprus Institute and leads the Atmospheric and Climate Modeling group at the EEWRC. His research interests encompass atmospheric chemistry changes and their effects on global and regional climate.
