May better than April for Cyprus airport traffic

The Civil Aviation Department of the Ministry of Communications and Works said that passenger movement and total flights at Larnaca airport in April were down 1.1% and 2.3%, respectively, compared to the same-month figures for the previous year. However, cargo volume was up 21.3% in April compared to the same month last year.
The same trend was reported in Paphos where passenger traffic and the number of flights were down 0.9% and 9.9%, respectively in April, compared to the same month the previous year, while cargo was up 16.1%.
Airport traffic seemed to pick up in May when aircraft arrivals increased by 6.3% at Larnaca and passengers were up 10,7%, while cargo continued its upward path to 15.4% compared to the same month the previous year.
Passenger traffic dropped in Paphos by 3.5% and aircraft arrivals were down 11.2% compared to May 2007, while cargo once again reported a healthy increase by a whopping 153.7%.
