Cyprus President Christofias sends messages of condolences to Madrid

President of the Republic of Cyprus Demetris Christofias has sent messages of condolences to Spanish President Jose Louis Rodriguez Zapatero and Minister of Foreign Affairs Miguel Angel Moratinos over the loss of lives in Wednesday's plane crash.

''Please accept the deepest and sincerest condolences from me, the government and the people of Cyprus over the loss of so many lives in the plane crash which happened yesterday, August 20, at Madrid's international airport,'' President Christofias says in his messages.

He calls on Zapatero and Moratinos to convey the condolences to the families of those killed in the crash and the people of Spain.
