Cypriot athlete qualifies for second round of 200m at Beijing Games

Cypriot Eleni Artymata has qualified for the second round of the 200m at the Beijing Olympic Games on Tuesday with 23.58, her best time this year.

Artimata ranked fourth with Ferguson- Mckenzie Debbie of the Bahamas in the same race finishing first.

The Cypriot athlete will compete in the Women's 200m Round 2 – Heat 4 at 19.21 Beijing time together with Allison George, Ivet Lalova, Virgil Hodge, Sherone Simpson, Emily Freeman, Muna Lee and Natalia Rusakova.

Another Cypriot, Alexandra Tsisiou, did not go through to the qualifying round of the Women's Javelin Throw. She scored 53.24 and ranked 21st, in this morning’s Group B qualifying round.
