Madagascar supports a viable solution on Cyprus

he President of the Republic of Madagascar Marc Ravalomanana has assured the new High Commissioner of the Republic of Cyprus to the country, Argyros Antoniou, that his country will continue to support the just struggle of the Cypriot people for reunification.
According to an official press release issued here today, Antoniou, who has recently presented his credentials to the President of Madagascar, was received in a private hearing by Ravalomanana whom he briefed on the latest developments regarding the Cyprus problem and the prospects of further strengthening the bilateral relations between the two island states.
The President of Madagascar assured Antoniou that his country will continue to support the just struggle of the Cypriot people for reunification and for a viable and functional solution of the Cyprus problem based on UN resolutions.
He also welcomed the efforts of the Government of the Republic of Cyprus for the opening of new checkpoints, which would bring the two communities closer together, as he noted.
Furthermore, the President of Madagascar expressed the wish to establish a closer cooperation in the sectors of agricultural and tourism.
