Cypriots have begun arriving in Cyprus from abroad to vote in Sunday’s presidential elections.
Most of the passengers arrive on Cyprus Airways flights from Athens, Salonica and London. Today CY operated 38 flights from various destinations to carry voters.
Cyprus Airways spokesman Kyriakos Kyriakou told CNA that the airline has offered 14,700 seats to the three main contenders of the presidential race, which have been almost equally distributed among them.
The main candidates are incumbent President Tassos Papadopoulos, House President Demetris Christofias and former foreign minister and Euro MP Ioannis Kasoulides.
Kyriakou said voters have been arriving since February 8th and the vast majority is expected to arrive today and tomorrow.
