Cyprus unemployed edge higher

The unemployed persons, registered at the District Labour Offices on the last day of January 2008, reached 13.571 persons compared to 12.788 persons in December 2007, an increase of 783 persons. The increase was mainly recorded in the sectors of hotels and restaurants, trade, manufacturing as well as to newcomers in the labour market.
In comparison with January 2007 a decrease of 1.470 persons was recorded which was mainly observed in the sectors of manufacturing, trade and construction.
