Ericsson has provided hellas online (hol), telecom operator, member of Intracom Holdings Group and one of Greece‘s major internet service providers, with the IMS and softswitch network.

Under the turnkey agreement, Ericsson delivered and implemented a next-generation network incorporating its Telephony Softswitch Solution and IMS solutions. Ericsson also provided the network deployment, systems integration, multivendor verification, customer support and training programs.

“By using the new technologies, our customers will enjoy the high quality of telephony services combined with the innovative experience of IP multimedia services,” said Lazaros Lentzaris, Chief Technology Officer of hellas online. “We chose Ericsson for the quality of its network solutions and its strong local presence, and we believe that this contract will be the beginning of a successful long-term cooperation.”

“With IMS and softswitch technologies, hol will take an important step in the evolution to an all-IP network. IMS also enables personal communications with interactions as close as possible to a face-to-face experience, added Spyros Nikolaou, President for Ericsson Greece, Cyprus, Albania and Malta.

hellas online, the first Greek ISP founded in 1993, has pioneered in internet services and held a dominant role in the Greek telecoms market ever since. Since it joined the Intracom Holdings group in 2006, it has been able to provide fully integrated broadband and fixed telephony services. The company’s clients are no longer restricted to household subscribers, but has also expanded from small to middle-level corporate clients, and even large organizations.
