Cyprus tourism arrivals drop by 1% y/y in November

Despite the absence of rain the autumn season for Cyprus is turning out to be a disappointment, with arrivals of tourists reaching 94,741 in November 2007 compared with 95,682 in November 2006, recording a decrease of 1.0%.

The UK market is still down, with a fall of 5.5% was recorded in tourist arrivals from the United Kingdom (42,592 in November 2007 compared to 45,091 in November 2006).

A decrease of 4.5% was recorded in arrivals from Germany (12,017 compared with 12,582 in November 2006).

On the other hand, an increase of 0.9% was recorded in tourist arrivals from Greece (from 9,511 in November 2006 to 9,592 in November 2007) and a 21.0% increase from Russia (from 3,284 to 3,975 this year).

For the period January-November 2007 arrivals of tourists totalled 2,342,338, compared with 2.329.902 in the corresponding period of 2006, recording an increase of just 0.5%.
