One year to go until Paphos gets new airport

In less than a year the new Paphos International Airport becomes a reality! Works for the completion of the new Paphos terminal continue at a rapid pace. It is expected that the new Airport, will significantly assist the development of the country. In less than a year, the new Airport will open its doors to the public and will mark the beginning of a new era for Cyprus, and especially for the Paphos district. With the operation of the new Pafos International Airport, Hermes Airports Ltd, is aiming to provide a higher level of service to travellers to and from Cyprus, and to the growth of the Cyprus economy, particularly the tourism industry.

 Hermes Airports Ltd maintains constant contact with the factors involved in the construction of the new Paphos International Airport. At the same time, Hermes Airports Ltd observes closely the procedure and is expressing its full satisfaction for the development of the works and for the following of the agreed planning. The above facts were confirmed also during the last visit of H.E. the President of the Republic of Cyprus Tassos Papadopoulos at the Paphos construction site.

In particular, the new Paphos International Airport will be able to serve about 2,700,000 passengers annually and will include:

800 Car Park Spaces

Hermes Airports Ltd assumed management of Larnaka and Paphos International Airports in May 2006, under a 25 year concession agreement with the Government of the Republic of Cyprus. As part of a EUR622 million investment programme, new passenger terminals will open at Paphos International Airport in November 2008, and at Larnaka International Airport in November 2009, in addition to significant upgrading of existing passenger terminals

Hermes Airports Ltd is an international consortium of 9 shareholders, bringing local and international expertise to the project. The shareholders are Bouygues Batiment International (22%), Egis Projects (20%), Cyprus Trading Corporation Public Limited (11.34%), Hellenic Mining (11.33%), Vancouver Airport Services (11%), Aer Rianta International (11%), Iacovou Brothers Construction (5.665%), Charilaos Apostolides Public Limited (5.665%) and Aeroport Nice Cote d’ Azur Chambre de Commerce et d’Industrie (2%).
