Cyprus’ re-election to IMO Council on Assembly’s agenda

Cyprus’ re-election to the Council of the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) will be discussed during the 25th Assembly, which starts today in London and will conclude on 30 November.

According to an official press release, the Assembly’s agenda includes terrorism and safety issues, the protection of the marine environment and working conditions.

The Assembly is also responsible for approving the work programme, voting the budget and determining the financial arrangements of the Organisation. It also elects the Council.

Cyprus Communications and Works Minister Maria Malahtou Pamballi will attend the Assembly, which meets once every two years in regular session.

The Minister returns home November 21.
