Ericsson has been selected by leading operator CTM (Companhia de Telecomunicações de Macau S.A.R.L.) to be the end-to-end integrator of indoor coverage to the largest single structure hotel in Asia and the second largest building in the world, The Venetian Macao-Resort-Hotel.

CTM is a joint venture of Cable and Wireless, Portugal Telecom, together with CITIC Pacific and Macao Post and is the only full telecom service provider in Macau.

Ericsson’s turnkey in-building solution will enable high-quality, seamless coverage across 2G and 3G networks for both commercial GSM/EDGE/WCDMA and CDMA. It also supports professional users with TETRA coverage.

At 10.5 mln square feet, The Venetian Macao is big enough to hold 90 Boeing 747 jumbo jets. The hotel offers 3,000 all-suite guest rooms and with 1 mln square feet of retail space, 1.2 mln sq.ft. of meeting, convention and exhibition space, and the 15,000-seat Venetian Arena.

As the hotel is the venue for the Mobile Asia Congress (November 12-15), Ericsson’s solution will also be the telecommunications backbone for all event participants and exhibitors.

“The Venetian Macao is already a landmark building and is now set to become a landmark for wireless in-building solutions,” said Johan Adler, President of Ericsson Hong Kong and Macau.
