Commission workshop on Solid Waste Management Plan for Turkish Cypriots

The European Commission is organising a public workshop open to all stakeholders on the draft Solid Waste Management Plan for the Turkish Cypriot community, to take place on November 14 in the Turkish occupied part of Nicosia.

According to a press release, the plan aims at improving solid waste management in the northern part of Cyprus and will guide decision on the physical investments to be funded by the EU in this sector for the benefit of the Turkish Cypriot community.

The aim of the workshop is to present the draft plan to the Turkish Cypriot community before it is finalised.

The preparation of this plan has been funded under the 259-million-euro EU Aid Programme for the Turkish Cypriot community, managed by the European Commission.

Upgrading of infrastructure to EU standards is a major component of the programme, including the field of solid waste management.
