General Secretary of the Arab League, Amr Musa, has expressed the League’s adherence to international law and its wish for a comprehensive solution in Cyprus.

Musa met yesterday in Cairo Cypriot Foreign Minister Erato Kozakou – Markoullis who briefed him on the latest developments regarding the Cyprus issue.

Markoullis referred to the July 8, 2006 agreement, which was agreed between the leaders of the Greek Cypriot and the Turkish Cypriot communities in the presence of Ibrahim Gambari, who served in 2006 as UN Undersecretary General.

Despite efforts by the government of Cyprus to implement the agreement, she said, its implementation is hampered by Turkey’s intransigent stance.

During their meeting, they also discussed the Middle East issue with emphasis on the Palestinian question.
