Panasonic has recently introduced to the Middle East market two new 3CCD full-HD camcorders – the HDC-SD5 and the HDC-SX5.

The HDC-SD5 debuts as the world’s smallest and lightest 3CCD full-high-definition camcorder, while the HDC-SX5 is a hybrid model that can record motion images onto both SDHC/SD memory cards and DVD discs. The new models can record full-HD video on 1920 x 1080 pixels, and also feature Panasonic’s original 3CCD camera system, which has earned high acclaim among professional broadcast camcorders.

The new models also employ the high-image-quality AVCHD format, and are equipped with Panasonic’s newly developed Advanced O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilizer), which allows users to record clear, beautiful, blur-free images with vibrant colors. When viewed on a high-quality, large-screen TV, both the SD5 and SX5 offer breathtaking video quality.

“With broadcasters increasingly switching to high definition, as well as a growing market for large-screen, high-image-quality TV, video products have evolved along this trend and are steadily moving towards high definition,” said Yasuo Kimoto, Product Manager, Panasonic Marketing Middle East.

The HDC-SD5 records on SDHC/SD memory cards and is much smaller than its predecessor, Panasonic’s SD1. As it features no mechanical drive mechanism, the SD5 offers outstanding resistance to impact, while its compact body gives the unit superb portability.

The SD5 also introduces the new USB Host function that improves data storage and playback ease. Using DVD burner VW-BN1, which has been released at the same time, users can copy or playback video recordings in the original AVCHD format, and enjoy easy high-definition viewing on a large-screen TV.

The hybrid SX5 can record up to 180 minutes of video on an 8GB SDHC memory card (a feature available starting September 2007), and up to 60 minutes on a DVD-R dual-layer disc. Using both media, the SX5 can capture up to 240 minutes of full-HD recording.

The SX5 can also copy recorded video from an SDHC/SD memory card to an 8cm DVD disc internally with the touch of a single button – no personal computer is required – and the recording format can be selected at the start of each recording. Users can also enjoy the video on DVD disc in standard definition (MPEG2) to play it back with a DVD recorder/player.
