Cyprus beats away San Marino 1-0

Cyprus’ national football team beat 1-0 away the national team of San Marino for the preliminary round of the 2008 Euro Championship.

Yiannis Okkas netted in the 52nd minute the only goal of the game, marking Cyprus’ Group D first away win.

Germany has collected 19 points in seven matches in the same Group followed by Czech Republic with 14 points (seven games), Ireland with 13 points (seven games), Slovakia with 9 points (seven games), Wales with 7 points (six games), Cyprus with seven points (six games) and San Marino with no points (six games).

Meanwhile, Cyprus’ Under 21 team won 1-0 away the national team of Iceland, in the first game for the preliminary round of the UEFA Cup. Michalis Demetriou scored for the Cypiot side in the 70th minute.
