The tax-induced boom in motor vehicle registrations continues, with registrations up 33.3% year on year to 5,985 units in July, of which 4,408 were passenger cars.

For the period January-July, total registrations rose by 33.1% to 40,285.

In this period the number of saloon car registrations rose by 35.9% to 31,976; the number of light goods vehicles rose by 43.3% to 3,456 and the number of heavy goods vehicles by 12.9% to 951.

Car registrations soared after a range of cuts on excise duties late in 2006.
