The leading Serbian mobile operator has chosen Nokia Siemens Networks for the supply and implementation of its GSM network extensions and 3G WCDMA network with HSPA (High Speed Packet Access) functionality and associated services.

Nokia Siemens Networks started the deliveries in July, allowing Telekom Srbija to expand its mobile broadband network and to offer advanced and differentiating 3G WCDMA (Wideband Code-Division Multiple Access) services to its more than 5 mln customers.

The contract covers equipment delivery and installation, commissioning and integration of the system, comprising such solutions as a high speed radio network, next generation mobile core equipment and an extension of the prepaid system.

The tailor made package includes 3G radio and core equipment (Mobile Softswitching solution consisting of MSC Servers and Media Gateways) as well as an extension of the prepaid system. Due to this fact, Telekom Srbija can continue to offer new and advanced GSM and 3G WCDMA services to its customers and will be able to further increase network capacity.

Telekom Srbija a.d. with its head office in Belgrade was incorporated as a joint stock company in June 1997 and offers wide range of modern fixed and mobile services. Oriented to the modern IP technologies and the broadband internet, Telekom Srbija established fast, efficient and sophisticated implementation of telecommunication solutions adjusted to the specific customer needs. With launching the portals “nadlanu.com” and “mtsmondo.com” Telekom Srbija sets up interactive services and the digital culture. Recently Telekom Srbija acquired Telekom Srpske (Bosnia and Herzegovina) and rolled out 2G/3G network in Montenegro, only 75 days after obtaining the license.
