Motorola has introduced the TalkAbout T9580RSAME series of two-way radios — the industry’s first radios that combine dependable FRS/GMRS radio communication with Specific Area Message Encoding (SAME) technology, helping to provide consumers with a unique, all-in-one emergency preparedness communication device.

SAME technology helps filter out distant warning broadcasts and monitors only programmed localized areas, helping to reduce the chance of false alarms. Leveraging this technology, the Motorola Talkabout T9580RSAME radios display a three letter code for the type of emergency, and a voice message plays when an alert is broadcast from the National Weather Service.  The radios are the first in the industry to offer this service together with two-way communications functionality — making them ideally suited for a broad range of outdoor activities or travel in remote locations.

“The Motorola TalkAbout T9580RSAME series of two-way radios help enable today’s active families to enjoy the great outdoors without missing important localized weather conditions and emergency alerts, such as hurricane and fire warnings,” said Marjon De Groot, Director of Marketing for Giant International, Motorola’s consumer two-way radio ally.  “The radios integrate the best of two-way FRS/GMRS functionality with reliable weather and emergency warnings, helping to provide consumers with a truly powerful communications tool.”

The T9580RSAME two-way radios are full of practical features to help keep families informed and in constant communication during outdoor expeditions and every day life adventures.

With a range of up to 40 kms (under optimum conditions), the compact T9580RSAME radios offer dependable communication in areas not covered by cell phones or during emergencies when cell phone communication is overloaded. The radios are also equipped with Motorola’s PTT power boost feature.  When activated, this feature helps extend the transmission range by increasing the transmitter power output — while helping to save battery life when no power boost is necessary.

With 22 channels, each with 121 privacy codes, users have 2,662 combinations of communication channels to choose from.  For natural sounding communication, the digital audio companding technology helps reduce static hiss between words.  Additionally, the radios include Motorola’s exclusive Quiet Talk (QT) interruption filter – when enabled, this feature helps ensure that radios from other manufacturers cannot be heard on your channel.

Other features include: audible low battery alert, battery save feature, keypad lock, time-out timer and a choice of 10 unique call tones.

The Motorola Talkabout T9580RSAME two-way radios have a Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price of $89.99 per pair.
