Petroleum construction costs up 15.1% in June

The cost of petroleum products for the construction sector rose by 15.1% over the previous month in June, owing to rising international oil prices since January, although the overall index rose by less than 1% compared with the previous month.

The overall price index of construction materials reached 139.61 (base year 2000 = 100.00) in June 2007, recording an increase of 0.93% over the previous month, according to the Statistical Service CYSTAT.

After petroleum products, the second largest increase was recorded for chemicals and related products, up by 1.62%, while the other categories were more or less flat.

For the period January-June 2007, the index recorded an increase of 4.69% over the corresponding period of the previous year.
