Cyprus motor regs up 33.1% in H1

Total registrations of motor vehicles during the first six months of 2007 increased by 33.1% to 34,300, from 25,770 vehicles in the same period of 2006,
according to the Statistical Service report entitled “Registration of Motor Vehicles”.
Private saloon cars increased to 25,143 from 18,583 in January–June 2006, marking an increase of 35.3%.
Of the total private saloon cars, 12,187 vehicles or 48.5% were new and 12,956 vehicles or 51.5% were used vehicles.
Goods conveyance vehicles increased by 35.9% to 3,786 in 2007, compared to 2,785 in 2006.
Light goods vehicles increased by 43.5% to 2,974, from 2,072 in 2006.
Heavy goods vehicles increased by 13.9% to 812 in January-June 2007, from 713 in 2006.
Mechanised cycles increased by 16.3% to 2,748 in 2007, compared to 2,363 in January-June 2006.
Sales of motor vehicles in 2007 have been boosted by a large cut in excise duties in November 2006.
