New Cyprus Ministers take office, FM to go to Greece

The four new Ministers, appointed on Friday by Cyprus President Tassos Papadopoulos were sworn in at a special ceremony at the Presidential Palace on Monday and three of them took up their new office on Tuesday.
On Monday Erato Kozakou Markoullis took over as Minister of Foreign Affairs from George Lillykas and announced she would meet her Greek counterpart, Dora Bakoyiannis, next week.

Christos Patsalides is the new Minister of Interior and takes on from Neoclis Sylikiotis, Maria Malahtou Pamballi was appointed Minister of Communications and Works and took over from Haris Thrassou, while Costas Kadis is the new Minister of Health and took over from Haris Charalambous.

They were appointed after the resignation of four members of the Cabinet in the wake of the collapse of the tri-party coalition when left-wing AKEL decided its General Secretary Demetris Christofias would run for president in the February elections.
