Cyprus food prices fall in June

The EU-harmonised consumer price inflation rate (HICP) eased to 1.7% in June 2006, compared with a 1.9% increase in May and a 2.6% increase in June 2006.

Compared with the previous month, the index was unchanged at 104.5.

There was a large fall in the prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages, down by 2.8% over the previous month, while all other categories rose only slightly or were stagnant.

The only exception was transport, where prices rose by 1.7% over the previous month.
