Three companies and a government department were the winners of the first innovation awards initiated by the Employers and Industrialists Federation (OEV), the Research Foundation, the University of Cyprus and the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

Two companies shared the award in the Manufacturing sector: Morfomichaniki Ltd., for the production of a unique aluminium engraving unit; and, Muskita Aluminium Industries Plc for the design, production and installation of a robotic system for automated storage and management of aluminum panels.

There was no award in the Primary category as the jury decided that the candidates did not fulfill the necessary criteria.

The Innovation Award for Services went to Eurofreight Logistics Ltd. for their implementation of the first of its kind third-party logistics system in Cyprus, while the Public Services Innovation Award went to the Ministry of Finance IT Department for the design and implementation of an office automation (OA) system for the public sector.
The award was designed by sculptor Tasos Rallis and symbolizes “the successful creation, incorporation and use of something new in economic and social levels.”

The awards were presented by Trade Minister Antonis Michaelides, OEV President Andreas Pittas, University of Cyprus Rector Stavros Zenios and jury chairman Andreas Moleskis.
