New knowledge, innovation and change in management ideas and practices, is the driving force behind the latest specialised workshops from CIIM entitled “Breakthrough ideas for your business”. These top-level workshops, all of high practical relevance, aim to help managers and entrepreneurs adopt new thinking and new methods, which can make their businesses more effective and more productive.

Management professor, author and guru Dr Constantinos Markides, Professor of Strategic and International Management and holder of the Robert P. Bauman Chair of Strategic Leadership at the London Business School will lead the workshop entitled “Leading Change: How to drive Major Change in your Organisation” on Wednesday, June 27, 9am-12 noon at the Hilton Park, Nicosia.

Dr Markides, who is a member of the academic board of CIIM, is a research associate and alumnus of Harvard Business School. He has conducted research and has published on the topics of strategic innovation, corporate restructuring, refocusing and international acquisitions. He has authored three books on strategic management and has published numerous articles in academic journals.

He has also taught in many in-house training programmes for multinational companies, is Associate Editor of the European Management Journal and an editorial board member of the Strategic Management Journal and the Sloan Management Review.  He is a member of the Academy of Management and the Strategic Management Society and a Fellow of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.  His current research interests include the management of diversified firms and the use of innovation and creativity to achieve strategic breakthroughs.

At the CIIM workshop Dr Markides will focus on obstacles and difficulties faced when introducing and implementing programmes for change, and on proven ways to overcome them.

The five key elements for effective change management will be examined: who is introducing the change, what is the nature of the change, how is the change programme promoted, who is the audience targeted for change and, what is the context within which change is introduced.

Each of these factors will be explored at the workshop and specific strategies and tactics will be recommended, that participants can apply in their own business settings, in order to introduce radical change with ease and success.

The participation fees is CYP 100 if payment is made in advance and CYP 120 for last minute registrations at the door.
