Shipping is expected to experience unprecedented growth in the coming years, giving rise to expanding opportunities in shipping management and a thorough grinding into the principles of ship management is the purpose of the executive programme Certificate in Ship Management: Business and Operations, organized next month in Limassol by the Cyprus International Institute of Management.

This HRDA-approved programme is designed to enhance participants’ understanding of all the main aspects involved in the management of ships, placing an emphasis on business and operations, market factors, and internal processes and dynamics.

Innovative teaching methods include case studies, executive insight exercises, group presentations and guest speakers, while the programme itself is based on a simulation of strategic decision making in an imaginary shipping company. No previous specialized knowledge of the shipping industry is required to follow the programme, however, those in shipping are likely to benefit the most from CIIM’s executive programme.

The course instructor is Dr Photis Panayides, Associate Professor and Chair of Shipping Management at CIIM. He has previously held appointments at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, the University of Plymouth in the UK, Jia Tong, Qingdao and Nankai Universities in China, and has been a visiting professor in the Copenhagen Business School, ALBA Athens and the National University of Singapore. He has published several scientific studies and is the author of three books on shipping and is a council member of the International Association of Maritime Economists.

The programme will be held on May 4, 5, 11 and 12 and will be repeated on June 1, 2, 8 and 9. The cost of the programme, after HRDA subsidy reduction, is CYP 201. For further information contact Harris Makriyiannis on 22462229 / 22462246, or email [email protected]
