Cyprus retail trade rises a strong 5.6% in Jan-Feb

The first three months may have been a big disappointment for the tourism sector but the retail sector seems to be unaffected.

According to the latest figures from the Statistical Service, retail trade turnover rose by 3.7% in volume terms and 6.5% in value terms in January compared with the corresponding period of 2006.

And according to provisional estimates, the pace accelerated in February as turnover rose by 7.6% year on year in volume terms and 10.6% in value terms.

For the period January-February 2007 the index is provisionally estimated to have increased by 5.6% compared to the corresponding period of 2006.
