Haris Loizides, the chairman of the Cyprus Hoteliers Association (Pasyxe), has submitted a proposal to the Cyprus Tourism Organisation to set up a working group to see how the Russian tourism market can be further developed in order to attract more tourists to Cyprus.

Speaking on the sidelines of the Moscow International Travel and Tourism exhibition, Loizides said that the Russian market is unique and the number of arrivals to Cyprus from the country is growing.

“The good news should not have us rest on our laurels. We must work to enhance this market even further,” he said.

“The Russian tourist market has offered us a second chance, especially after the dramatic drop in arrivals of the last few years. We should take advantage of this situation.”

The CHA’s proposal is to establish a group comprising the CTO, the Cyprus embassy in Moscow and the private sector to resolve any issues or obstacles that may arise in the smooth arrival of Russian tourists, and also to find ways to jointly promote Cyprus as destination.
