The Cypriot Government continues consultations with the German EU presidency regarding the regulation for trade with the areas of Cyprus which are not under the effective control of the government, Government Spokesman Christodoulos Pashiardis has said.
He also confirmed that at this point the EU Presidency’s position is that the approval of any regulation requires unanimity.
Responding to questions, he clarified that in this consultation the Government’s position is not limited to a repetition of what is not accepted, adding that “we have specific views and suggestions, which we discuss.”
He reiterated that the Greek Cypriot side has no objection over the financial support of the Turkish Cypriots, but will not accept proposals and efforts aiming at division or the upgrading of the puppet regime in the Turkish occupied areas of Cyprus.
