WFP thanks Cyprus for help during Lebanon crisis

Deputy Executive Director of the Fundraising and Communications Department at the World Food Programme (WFP) John Powell thanked Cyprus and its people for their contribution in the success of the humanitarian mission to face the Lebanon crisis, as well as the constant support to specific programmes of the Organization.

Powell met with the President of the Parliamentary Committee of Foreign Affairs Averof Neophytou and members of the Committee and with the President of Parliamentary Committee of Human Rights Sophocles Fyttis.

According to an official press release, Powell is on the island in the framework of the Second Annual Consultation between WFP and the 12 new member states of the European Union.

During the meeting, Powell briefed the Parliamentarians about the priorities of the WFP and its activities in several parts of the world for global development.
