in Nicosia will have an open doors day on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Treaty of Rome.

 

At 9.00 a.m., 50 children in traditional costumes bearing the colours of the Member States will hoist the flag of the EU in the courtyard of the “European Union House”. Later on at 10.00 a.m., members of the Cyprus Youth Council and groups of young people will follow the Youth Summit and they will participate in the roundtable debate on the 50th anniversary of the Treaty of Rome and the future of Europe. An internet streaming facility will allow young people from all Member States to follow the event taking place at the Campidoglio building in Rome, where 6 Cypriot youngsters will also attend.

 

Later on the same day, the “European Union House” will be open from 16.00 to 20.00 p.m. The public is welcomed to visit the “European Union House” and celebrate EU’s 50 years over a glass of wine, a bite and a discussion on the past achievements and the things which European Union should do so that we can shape TOGETHER the future of Europe with more prosperity and security.
