Cyprus tourism revenue down in January

On the basis of the results of the Passenger Survey, revenue from tourism reached CYP 19.7 mln in January 2007 compared to CYP 21.2 mln in the corresponding month of the previous year, recording a decrease of 7.1%.

Foreign exchange revenue from tourism rose by 2.2% for the whole of 2006 to reach CYP1,027.3 mln, compared with CYP 1,005.7 mln in the whole of 2005.

The increase in revenue was achieved in spite of a drop in the number of tourist arrivals by 2.8% to 2,400,924.
