Consumer prices fell for the third straight month in February, with the consumer price index falling by 0.07% to 102.08 units.

Year-on-year inflation  therefore eased to 1.45% from 1.64% in January.

The Statistical Service reported that the monthly fall was mainly owing to decreases in the prices of some fresh vegetables and petroleum products.

Increases were recorded in the prices of some fresh fruit and bread.

For the period January-February 2007 the CPI recorded an increase of 1.6% compared to the corresponding period of 2006.
