Cyprus tourism revenue falls in Nov, rises Jan-Nov

Americans spend most, Greeks least

 

On the basis of the results of the Passenger Survey, revenue from tourism in Cyprus reached CYP 37.6 mln in November 2006, compared to CYP 43.1 mln in the corresponding month of the previous year, recording a decrease of 12.7%.

However, revenue rose in the period January to November 2006. For the period January to November 2006 revenue from tourism is estimated at CYP 998.5 mln, compared with CYP 975.3 mln in the corresponding period of 2005, recording an increase of 2.4%.

Figures on spending per tourist show that average expenditure per day in November was CYP 37.91. Average expenditure per person was CYP 393.12 while the average stay was 10.37 days.

The highest spenders according to the data were the Americans, who spent an average CYP 683.49 per person (despite the falling dollar). The lowest spenders in November were the Greeks, at CYP 213.55 per person.
