The Partnership For the Future Mine Action Centre Cyprus (PFF MAC) will dispose of a small number of UXOs in the Ayia Marina area, Tuesday, 19 December between 7:00 am and 4:00 pm.

During this time, though a number of explosions will be heard in the surrounding area, civilians living outside the un-patrolled buffer zone have no cause for alarm since they are well outside the 500 metre demolition zone.

Farmers and civilians permitted to work inside the buffer zone in Ayia Marina are to remain outside the demolition area, which will be clearly cordoned off for their safety.

The PFF MAC continues its de-mining operations in the UN-patrolled buffer zone. On 22 November, PFF MAC completed clearance operation in Nicosia, which was declared completely mine-free. The European Union responsible for the funding of this de-mining project has so far raised 5 million euros.  The project implemented by UNDP, has so far released, more than 1,850,000 square meters of land, and removed 2810 mines from Cyprus.
