Low-cost travel and cheap franchise pioneer Stelios Haji-Ioannou is looking for business partners to expand his easyHotel.com brand to Cyprus and 17-18 local hoteliers have already shown interest in the franchise.

The company’s CEO, Lawrence Alexander, will be in Limassol on Monday, November 20, to introduce the franchise concept to prospective partners in a public presentation followed by private meetings with those showing serious interest.

Marios Missirlis, a close relative of Stelios who is looking after the many ‘easy’ ventures in Cyprus, told the Financial Mirror that “about 17-18 owners of hotels or hotel apartments have already shown interest in the franchise.”

Missirlis said that the easyHotel.com venture has taken off very well, with one own-hotel already operating in London’s Kensington, while the first international franchise was the easyHotel in Basel, Switzerland.

He said that the hotel franchise expects two more hotel properties to operate as franchises in London by next April, while Stelios recently signed a master-franchise agreement in Dubai that foresees 38 franchise hotels in the north Africa, eastern Mediterranean and Middle East area over the next five years.

Missirlis already operates two easyInternetCafe franchise in Cyprus, one in Paphos and one in Limassol, while Stelios has already expanded the easyCar rental business with local giant Andy Spyrou Group (ASG) and the easyCruise concept with Louis for the operation of one low-cost ship in the Aegean and eastern Mediterranean are by 2008.
