CSE tie-up with ATHEX brings gains

On the first day of the launch of the Common Trading Platform (CTP) with the ATHEX, the CSE main index closed with 0.68% gains on satisfactory volume with market participants experiencing minor problems.

The CSE Main/Parallel market index closed 0.68% higher at 3413.22 points, on EUR 17.3 mln (CYP 9.97 mln) volume on 2271 trades. The CSE reported that 34 titles closed higher, 13 lower, 17 unchanged and 93 saw no trades.

Laiki Bank (CPB) closed 2.88% higher at EUR 6.42 (CYP 3.70) and was the most active on EUR 7.5 mln volume. Hellenic Bank (HB), the second most active closed 2.8% lower at EUR 3.12 (CYP 1.80), while the Bank’s warrants ended 4% lower at EUR 1.83 (CYP 1.05).

Bank of Cyprus (BOCY) gained 0.23% to EUR 8.78 or CYP 5.06, but in Greece, the Bank’s shares (KYPR) ended 2% lower at EUR 8.80, far worse than the 0.10% loss of the ATHEX index, down at 4117.05 and the FTSE/ASE 20, down 0.04% at 2269.42 points. Marfin Financial Group and Egnatia Bank bucked the declining trend and closed up 0.62% and 2.84% at EUR 38.96 and EUR 7.96 respectively.

In Cyprus, other active stocks were Louis (LUI), which closed 1.49% higher at 68 euro cents (39.20 Cyprus cents), despite the negative development at one of its hotels in Corfu where two British children died.
