— Visitors reach record numbers

The Financial Mirror newspaper is of a better quality today than ever before in the 13 years of publishing the island’s leading business newspaper. It also uses the latest technology that helps blend the print edition with the rapidly evolving electronic news production platforms through which we have developed one of the most visited Cyprus-related web sites in the world, the www.financialmirror.com .

The Financial Mirror is now being printed at a new facility that offers more colour pages and better print quality, while our simultaneous leap to new technologies allows us the choice to accept text and images in almost any format, fine resolution photographs and high quality advertisements in color or black and white.

The publishers have entered into a new agreement with Astrafti Press Ltd. that operates one of the most advanced web offset printing presses on the island.

Pages are produced at our own facility and transmitted digitally through high-speed lines directly to the printing units, also known as a “direct-to-plate” process. As a result we are no longer outputting pages on ready-to-print films that helps cut down on the excessive waste of chemicals.

Our “salmon pink” paper is of the highest grade Scandinavian newsprint produced by global leader Stora-Enzo that is produced from purpose-grown forests that replace felled trees with twice the number of new ones. EU statistics show that this strict regulation has actually increased the size of forests in Sweden.

— Record website hits

Our main website has also been enjoying rapid growth, due mainly to the live update of news on politics, business, the economy and new technology as they occur. www.financialmirror.com is rated among the top sites for Cyprus-related news, which can be proven with a simple search on ‘Cyprus’ at Google News that will show Financial Mirror reports appearing in as many as six out of ten postings.

The majority of our visitors continue to come from abroad, with overseas visitors (tracked from their unique country addresses) accounting for more than 80% of all hits, with the majority of these coming from the EU and the US.

Total pages views from January to the first week of September reached some 2,39 mln, while the number of unique visitors totalled about 590,000 during the same period for a total of 6,73 mln hits.

These statistics show a steady rise in the number of loyal visitors who have bookmarked the website as a regular and reliable news source, with an average of 14-15,000 unique visitors per month, of whom some 9-10,000 are new visitors and the rest are return visitors.

The Financial Mirror also manages the technology-based Greek-language website, www.cytatech7.com, the travel news directory www.YaSouTravel.com and produces the daily Greek e-paper Xpress-OIKONOMIKH in PDF format that is available for free download from a number of websites.

As we develop new products and strive to reach higher goals, we appreciate the support from our dedicated print and online readers and thank you all.
