Cyprus jobless number declines in August

The unemployed persons, registered at the District Labour Offices on the last day of August 2006, reached 12.852 persons compared to 13.117 persons in July 2006, a decrease of 265 persons. The decrease is observed in the sector of education, while an increase of 151 persons was recorded in the sector of public administration, the Statistics Service said.

In comparison with August 2005 an increase of 230 unemployed persons was recorded which was mainly observed in the sectors of manufacturing, transport and education, while a decrease of 145 persons was observed in the sector of public administration.
