MultiChoice (Cyprus) Public Company Ltd. (MCC) announced that on August 18, 2006 the Company filed a claim and secured a temporary injunction against Lumiere TV Public Company Ltd. (LTV) which forbids the latter from using its subscriber database.

On 18th August 2006 the Court, upon an ex parte application of the Company, issued an interim injunction ordering and prohibiting LTV from using and/or operating and/or detaining the subscriber database of the Company. The court also ordered LTV to deliver to the Company and/or to the Registrar of the Court the Company’s subscriber database and all copies of it in any form either electronic or other to be safely kept until further order of the Court.

The Court Order was served on LTV, which now has the right to appear before the court on 28th August 2006 to oppose the order.

Control of MCC’s database is crucial for LTV in its battle to convince as many subscribers of MCC as possible to shift to its new preferred digital providers, such as miVision, PrimeTel and AthinaSat.

Before the breakup between MCC and LTV, the number of subscribers amounted to 60.000 plus.
