Minister of Justice and Public Order Sophocles Sophocleous announced that a meeting he chaired today with the participation of the police and civil authorities of Larnaca Airport decided to implement precautionary and, if necessary, suppressive measures for the security of the airports and ports of Cyprus.

Sophocleous told the press that ‘specific instructions have been given’ for the implementation of measures so that the ports and airports of the Republic of Cyprus are safe, adding that cooperation between the Police and the Civil Aviation will ensure that the law is observed.

The Minister said that there will be no unauthorised entry or exit of citizens who have no specific role or work at the ports or airports.

‘Everyone agreed that our aim is to offer safety in practice,’ he said, adding that the security levels are good but ‘we should do the best we can.’

‘Those traveling should travel through legitimate entrances and should leave from legitimate exits,’ he said.
