The Special Representative in Cyprus of the UN Secretary-General, Michael Moller, is in New York to attend the annual meeting between the Secretary-General Kofi Annan and the Heads of UN Peacekeeping Missions.

Moller is expected to discuss with Annan both the Cyprus problem and the six-month rolling mandate of the Unied Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus (UNFICYP).

The Secretary General will submit a report to the Security Council on UNFICYP’s mandate and on recommendations renewal by the end of May.

Yesterday, Moller discussed the Cyprus problem with US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Matt Bryza and Cyprus Permanent Representative to the UN Andreas Mavroyiannis, while he was expected to have a lunch with UN Undesecretay-General Ibrahim Gambari.
