Electronics maker Garmin will present a new generation of GPS workout monitors at the upcoming CeBIT electronics trade fair in Hanover (March 9 to 15). The Forerunner 205 and 305 are worn on the wrist during jogging, bicycle, or inline skating workouts and record data like speed, distance, time and heart frequency for later analysis.

The information collected by the device is sent to a computer for analysis on improving performance. The GPS reception has been improved compared with prior models, guaranteeing satellite contact even in difficult environments, such as under trees. The devices are expected to hit the market in March and will cost 339 and 439 dollars respectively.
