Japanese electronics company Sharp plans to invest 15 billion yen (128 million dollars) to increase the production of LCD panels by 20% next year, the Nihon Keizai Shimbun reported.

The increase will boost monthly output from 51,000 units to around 60,000 units at the Kameyama manufacturing plant which makes mainly 32- and 37-inch LCD panels.

Sharp is targetting to lift its sales in LCD panels 30% from sales projected for the current financial year to 1.1 trillion yen, the newspaper said. (dpa)
